Heather, a classically trained violinist, started her studies at an early age to become an accomplished performing violinist before the age of 14. Not only did Heather participate and lead orchestra, quartets, and music ensembles she student taught orchestra classes at the local middle school and helped organize charity music programs throughout High School.
While attending the University of Wisconsin Whitewater for music education, Heather started her performances with Fandazzi Fire Circus(2009). Continuing her music education at the University of Eau Claire, Heather studied musical form, musical composition, aural skills, history and more along with her personal study of the violin.
During nights and weekends she furthered her education by seeking the leadership and direction of many prominent traveling violinists in her city of Eau Claire or in the neighboring metropolis. These apprenticeships fueled Heather’s knowledge of musical composition, improvisation, audience psychology, and advanced her techniques to perform the violin with grace and passion
Cyrus Wolff is a versatile and experienced performer on the guitar, combining the discipline of years of classical training with the fluidity of many hours spent studying jazz and rock improvisation. Cyrus is a freelance classical guitar teacher and performer based in the Twin Cities, performing for events of all kinds. His expertise with the guitar has lead to performances for the Minnesota legislature, Skylark Opera, Radisson Hotels, the Science Museum of Minnesota, the Musical Instrument Museum in Arizona and the Walker Art Center, among many others. Cyrus has worked extensively as a solo artist and as part of many types and styles of ensembles, including performances accompanying choirs; performing pit music for theatrical productions; classical duets with singers, violinists and woodwind instruments, playing in jazz combos and big bands, and playing lead guitar for rock and folk bands. Cyrus graduated from Anoka Ramsey Community College in 2013 with an AFA degree in music, and currently is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in guitar performance from the University of Saint Thomas. As part of the Fandazzi Fire Dancers Cyrus combines passionate musicianship with a vigilant awareness of the complex dynamics of group performances.
TERRENCE KARN is dance and musical artist/composer/educator. He began his career as a dance musician in 1971 at the Minnesota Dance Theatre. During the 1980s, Terrence taught character dance at Houston Ballet Academy and was a dance accompanist for over nine years. He was a resident Dance Musician/ Composer in the School of Theatre and Dance at the University of Houston (1999-2007) and at Denison University’s Department of Dance (2007-2011). Terrence has performed with the Houston Grand Opera, Karen Stokes Dance, and Core Performance Company and has had a long-time affiliation with Jane Weiner and Hope Stone Dance company as an educator and musician. Terrence is the cofounder of Gypsy Dance Theatre, a Texas-based world music and dance ensemble. He is a current member of Black Isles Belly Dance Theatre and The Fandazzi Fire Circus based in Minneapolis, MN. Summer 2016, Karn will return to the Bates Dance Festival for his 17th year as Musical Director for the Youth Arts Program and will work at the American Dance Festival for his sixth year as a musical artist and dance accompanist. Currently, Terrence lives in Eau Claire, WI and accompanies dance at UW-Eau Claire, collaborating frequently with his artistic and life partner, Julie Fox, in various UWEC dance program productions and professional venues. Karn has recorded six all original music CDs. He has composed numerous works for dance companies on planet earth and has played for over 17,727 dance classes and counting.
